The Restaurant Show is the place to taste flavours and foods from around the world – from French delicacies to Japanese sake – the show is a real gastronomic melting pot. We caught up with some of the exhibitors from this year’s show who will all be showcasing fabulous flavours from overseas.

A taste of Japan

“There has been an explosion of interest in Japanese food on the high street and it’s still on trend” Na Wang, Marketing Manager at Tazaki Foods Ltd (Stand: GC31) tells us. There’s no denying this is true, but what’s the secret to its popularity?

Na Wang tell us more: “These days people are definitely getting more adventurous – especially millennials, many of whom have travelled extensively in gap years. However, whilst they’re keen to try world cuisine, they are also focused on healthy eating and especially vegetarian or vegan options. Japanese food ticks all these boxes.”

She continued: “Clean eating, organic and free-from are also going to continue going from strength to strength. There’s also no escaping the fact that food needs to be Instagrammable. Japanese food fits all these criteria and Tazaki Foods supply a wide range of brands and products.”

So, while you’re at the show make sure you don’t miss the chance to sample some of the range on offer from Tazaki Foods, who are the largest importer, developer and distributor of authentic Japanese food and drink in the UK and Europe.

Plus, you can celebrate International Sake Day at the show as Peter McCombie, Master of Wine and UK Ambassador for Sake demonstrates the versatility of this signature drink on its ‘New Year’s Day’. He joins Alexandre Santamaria - Brand Director at Ling Ling - Hakkasan Ltd, who will talk about the various ways of including sake into brand philosophies and strategies, from cocktail bars to nightclubs and restaurants.

Vive La France!

Francophiles will certainly be able to get their fill at this year’s show. Exclusive wines

Headed by chef and hospitality industry veteran Steve Schaffer, the business is putting the provenance and heritage of Portuguese wine front-and-centre for operators looking to add a point of difference to their wine list.

Also not to be missed is, Transylvania’s Finest (Stand: UY49) who are bringing fine wines and food to the UK from the Transylvanian region of Romania. The wines on offer come from the renowned Jidvei Winery in Tarnave, an area that stretches majestically between the Tarnava Mica and Tarnava Mare rivers in the heart of Transylvania.

Gelato heaven

If you’ve always wanted to put Italian gelato on your menu, visit Il Gelato Di Ariela (Stand: US61) to sample a little bit of gelato heaven. The company say they’re committed to supplying businesses with the highest quality Gelato, which they claim will “make you popular with your customers, help increase your profits and to give you peace of mind in the knowledge that you will be serving a better, healthier and more natural product.”

Flavours of India

There’s certainly a lot of love for Indian and Pan-Asian cuisine in the UK, so why not check out Mr Todiwala’s on stand US65, the home of new hot and spicy pickles, chutneys, sauces, snacks and masalas, created by one of Britain's best loved Indian Chefs, Cyrus Todiwala OBE DL. All of the chutneys and pickles on the stand are made in Café Spice Namasté; one of London’s most established Indian and Pan-Asian restaurants.

These are just a few of the international flavours you can sample at The Restaurant Show 2018. There will be plenty more to discover and we highly recommend you visit SAS Bridor (Stand: GE10), True World Foods UK Ltd (Stand: UU60), Kingfish Zeeland (Stand: UK61) and PizzaSi Distribution UK Ltd (Stand: UU68) to name just a few more.
